In my book, the hype around the second iteration of the Solana Saga smartphone has got ‘smoke and mirrors’ written all over it.
What happened was, in my view, Solana made an overpriced smartphone that was okay, but not great, and it accidentally went parabolic because, by pure coincidence, one of the airdrops included with the sale went viral, and that’s Bonk.
Remember, no one had any idea Bonk was included with the Saga, and the price was discounted by as much as 50 percent less than three months after the smartphone went on sale.
Still, Solana Labs used all of that to their advantage and used the Bonk airdrop hype to launch a new Saga, the Saga Chapter Two, which is now available for pre-order for $450.
The price will go up soon.
I don’t think I’m gonna buy it, even though I’m tempted, chiefly because I think this’ll be a sophomore jinx.
But that’s beside the point. The point is, Solana already amassed 60,000 pre-orders for the Chapter Two. Did you buy one?
