Formula One has a troubled history with crypto in that a long list of crypto firms that sponsored F1 teams went bust. The list includes FTX, of course, and lesser known crypto exchanges such Singapore-based Vauld.
Now something different happened.
Formula One team rebrand all the time, usually because somebody comes along, buys the technology and the naming rights and wants their name to appear.
This was Sauber’s turn.
The naming rights to Sauber, which by the way is a name with a fairly long history in F1, were bought by Stake.com, a crypto platform with a focus on betting.
And Stake teamed up with Drake to make the announcement.

In true F1 style, in that everything is a soap opera, Sauber, which is Alfa Romeo, will actually be racing as Audi from 2026.
Alfa Romeo has already rebranded to Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake but since it’s technically Audi from 2026, it’d be fair to assume Audi will want some form of recognition as well.
I totally expect the team to call itself ‘Alfa Romeo-Audi F1 Team Stake’ from 2026.
