Revolut launched its own crypto exchange

About time.

I’m part of a Facebook group for American Express users from my country and the level of delusion is incredible.

The questions, comments and answers provided daily clearly indicate that Amex is an obsolete product.

Here’s an example. All my debit cards are denominated in EUROS but I live in a non-EU country and I spend most of my time travelling. As a result, most of my transactions aren’t in EUROS.

But I haven’t paid transaction fees in years. And that’s not special. That should be normal. If you’re paying transaction fees on your card, you’re with the wrong bank my friend.

Amex charges obscene fees and in that group, they talk about it like it’s normal. Like it’s inevitable. We then move on to miles and lounge access, which they don’t seem to realise is now a thing so many platforms offer.

I use a bunch of different platforms but the one I use the most is probably Revolut.

Interestingly, I use it for everything, including miles and lounge access, except for crypto.

It seems to me that Revolut knew the crypto section of their platform wasn’t great, so they remedied that by launching a new crypto exchange.

It’s called Revolut X and it’s still incomplete, for example there’s no dedicated app yet, only a desktop version.

But it goes to show that this is the way forward. These global apps want to become one-stop shops superapps.

Like WeChat in China or Careem in Dubai.

One app, for food delivery, banking, ride-hailing services, travel and so on.

Is that good or bad? I don’t know. But clearly the world is going in that direction.
