The Metaverse and Metaverse-adjacent products and hardware, including Apple Vision Pro for example, are at the centre of incredible contradictions.
Meta is still called Meta, but it’s cutting down on Metaverse spending, chiefly because it is losing money hand over fist on it.
And yet, five of the world’s 10 most important and richest companies in the world – Apple, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia and of course Meta – are currently developing new Metaverse gear.
Microsoft is reportedly looking into modifying Apple’s Vision Pro in partnership with Samsung.
Microsoft teaming up with Samsung to work on an Apple product is a bit like combining coffee and beer to create an improved version of wine.
And lastly, Apple Vision Pro.
Apple VR/AR headset underperformed commercially, so much so that the Cupertino giant is apparently delaying its plan to unveil a new one, but, at the same time, Apple says that one in two of the Fortune 500 companies are using Vision Pro as part of their business operations.
So now that everyone is focused on AI, it seems no one cares anymore about Virtual Reality and the Metaverse.
Except, clearly, they do.
