Throwback to when it was possible to mine 1 BTC per day with a home setup

In hindsight, the deal of the century.

In an ancient video that’s now going viral because the internet does things the way it does things, CNN interviewed Eric Elliot, an early Bitcoin adopter who, in 2011, was mining 1 BTC per day from his $800 bedroom setup.

Hindsight, as ever, is 20/20, but the truth is, back then, this was only a good deal if you believed in Bitcoin.

Even at its peak, in 2011 BTC was only worth around $20.

Assuming the best possible version of a best-case scenario, this guy was probably making $600 per month.

It’s better than a punch in the mouth, no doubt, but at best, this was a hobby that paid for itself.

Obviously, again with hindsight, this was the deal of the century.

Even though he’s probably sold some of it, and even though at some point mining from your bedroom became impossible, this put people like Elliot in a position where they can easily still sit on a stack of hundreds if not thousands of BTC now.

Good for him.
