Fake news or not, this is giving Tesla investors a headache

True or fake?

Business Insider said Tesla is reportedly postponing the launch of its autonomous robotaxi, Cybercab, from August 8 to somewhen in October.

This is unconfirmed, but Elon Musk famously doesn’t like Business Insider, and called them on several occasions in the past for spreading fake news, for example when they said Tesla was pulling the plug on its smaller citycar project, the Model 2.

The problem is, on this occasion, Musk and Tesla haven’t confirmed or denied (at the time of writing) whether this is true or false.

In the meantime, Tesla stock went from $270 to $240 in a few hours.

I’ve said before that I firmly believe that people who invest in Tesla stock should and must bear in mind that their share value, for better or worse, derives from Elon Musk’s antics just as much as it does from actual Tesla technology, revenue and so on.

Worrying about Tesla stock going down because of somebody Musk said or did, or in this case didn’t say or didn’t do, it’s the same as worrying about Bitcoin price when governments and authorities badmouth it.

If that worries you, then you’re investing in the wrong asset.
