The vast majority of Sui founders, developers and key people are former Meta (ie, Facebook) employee that worked on Meta’s failed Diem (formerly known as Libra) project.
Sui is an integrated Blockchain, just like Solana, Aptos and the similarly named Sei.
According to Sui’s CTO, Sam Blackshear, blockchains need to be first and foremost usable, in that different applications have to be capable of interacting as seamlessly as possible.
Sui wants to do that, while also being cost-effective, scalable, and secure, which is easier said than done.
Sui keeps its consensus and mempool protocols separated.
The mempool is called Narwhal, while the consensus engine is dubbed Bullshark.
But, since my brain is beginning to hurt because this stuff is kinda complicated, I’ll save that for another ‘episode’.
