A Bitcoin user accidentally paid the highest Bitcoin on-chain fee ever.
The transaction was supposed to be for 139.42 BTC but because of this crazy mistake, the recipient only received 55.78 BTC, the remaining 83.64 BTC, ie roughly $3.1 million, was used on fees.
You may have noticed that Bitcoin fees have been getting higher.
The other day I transferred $100 worth of ETH and paid $1.15. And I used ETH because, amazingly, the same transaction in BTC would’ve cost me $15, not $1.15, in fees.
But this was something else.
Hopefully the miner who received the fee will send some of it back.
