We almost forgot about him amid the FTX collapse and the Binance chaos, but there’s another crypto hero-turned-devil that’s facing legal issues and that’s Do Kwon.
Do Kwon is deemed responsible for the $40 billion collapse of the Terraform Labs ecosystem, which included a stablecoin (UST) and a cryptocurrency (LUNA).
Kwon is facing all kinds of charges in the U.S. and South Korea, and that’s why he fled to Montenegro about a year ago.
In the capital, Podgorica, he was arrested and sentenced to a four-month prison sentence for document forgery.
Well, he’ll soon leave jail.
More precisely, he’ll leave the jail he’s currently in and go into another.
A Montenegrin court has approved the extradition of Kwon to either South Korea or the U.S. I have a feeling he’ll be extradited to the U.S. first.
Partly due to geopolitical reasons but chiefly because the U.S. legal system will do all that’s possible to make sure he spends at least a couple of decades in jail.
