It’s all happened pretty quickly, hasn’t it?
Less than 72 hours after being ‘fired’ from OpenAI, we still don’t know exactly why, Sam Altman was hired by Microsoft to lead the company’s AI unit.
It is all a bit weird.
First, the OpenAI board of directors ousted Sam Altman and they were not particularly diplomatic about it. In their statement, they literally said they don’t trust him.
Then, OpenAI realised this could harm the company’s financial situation, which let’s face it that’s the thing they probably care about the most, and they were ready to get him back on board.
But it’s too late, it seems, because Microsoft is hiring both Altman and Greg Brockman (also from OpenAI).
Stay tuned because it feels like the saga is not over.
